ORGANIZERS

  • Taylor Stender

    EMCEE & CO-PRODUCER

Taylor has found a way to dance most of her life. While her first love was Lindy Hop, her true love is Balboa. She has been swing dancing since 2007 and teaching since 2012 locally and regionally in the Pacific Northwest.

Taylor joined the NWBF organizing team in 2019, but has loved and supported this event for many years. She enjoys building a space to explore Balboa and revel in our wonderful dance community.

Known for her love of shoes and puns she has been a fabulous femcee for many swing dance events, burlesque, and cabaret shows since 2016.

  • Alison Sprague

    VOLUNTEERS & CO-PRODUCER

Alison was inspired by the movie Shall We Dance? to get out on the lindy hop social dance floor in 2006. She took her first balboa lesson in 2015, which she paid for in fish, and instantly fell in love.

She likes to combine her passion for travel with her love of bal/lindy and has checked out the local scenes in 5 countries (as well as across the US).

When she's not on the dance floor or a plane, you can find her reading, adoring capybaras, training, in pole class, or at a whiskey tasting.

  • Robin Harrison

    DESIGN, WEB & PROMOTIONS

Robin first truly fell in love with Balboa around 2008, and has been rocking the swing dance social & competition floor since a decade before that. She has worked hard to continue to spread this passion both far and wide.

While briefly living and teaching swing full time abroad in Alberta, Canada, she started up a regular social dance, Balboa, Blues & Booze (BB&B). Upon moving back home to Seattle in 2014, she brought BB&B with her, and has hosted this monthly live music & dancing event everywhere from the very top of the iconic Smith Tower, to its current home in Seattle’s oldest bar, the Jules Maes Saloon.

Robin is ecstatic to be bringing over 15 years of event production experience to the NWBalfest team in support of the event this year. Grab her for a dance!

  • Andrew Harrison

    COMPETITION MANAGER

Andrew has been enjoying balboa since moving to Seattle in late 2015. Shortly after arriving, he learned about Robin's BB&B event and decided to try it out — a decision that led to his marriage to Robin almost seven years later.

He is grateful for the opportunity to support a dance community that has been so important to his life.

Ask Andrew to dance, and put his superpower of actually remembering dance partners' names to the test!

Special thanks to Vasu Sharma for being a consultant on competitions for NW Balfest 2024!
